This swing set DYI makeover proved that you can transform a swing set into anything!

From my previous experience decorating swing sets, I knew that the playgrounds are always bigger than you think; swing sets eat up decorations.

I needed something to capture the jungle vibe yet be simple, easy to attach, and large. I was in despair over this problem since the cost of thatch roofing was stupidly high. Then I discovered the bamboo privacy fences; problem solved! These gave me max return on value as they transformed both the roof and the bottom of the tower from our classic look to an exciting jungle bungalow vibe.

I was a little time-crunched on attaching the bottom bamboo to the swing set, so I ended up screwing it into the vinyl. Less invasive but more time-consuming methods would involve, you guessed it, command hooks but the fist full.

The bamboo on the bottom of the playground looked fantastic and provided a shady area to eat snacks, which was a terrific benefit. The wind picked up during the shoot and kept blowing the vines into the area, creating an enjoyable, lively scene.

The jungle vines hanging under the tower proved to be more than I bargained for. They came out rather tangled from the package and did not want to separate without a battle. I would suggest finding a better product though I must admit, they did look nice when finished.

The fake ferns were simple enough to tape with gorilla tape on the top of the swing beam. The curtains and curtain rods added a nice, finished look. The fake cheetah skin and greenery rounded out the jungle bungalow. The hanging jungle lanterns added to the feeling and soon were claimed as house decorations by the owner’s wife.

One comment on the lights. They were adorable, but the functionality was questionable. I will give them a pass as I know several energetic young Amish boys played heavily on the set. The young lads might have smacked them a time or two, so they might have been compromised.

Overall, the set looked fantastic, but I would find different vines and lights if I had to do it again. The vines were time-consuming; I am sure there are easier options available.  Here are the Amazon links to everything I used:
