Premium swing sets and playhouses require premium materials. King Swings prides itself on making handcrafted backyard play equipment with the highest-quality parts, accessories, and components. By sourcing most of our materials from suppliers within the USA, crafting it all in Parkesburg, PA, and using our in-house crews to deliver and install your dream swing set, King Swings offers a product, experience, and customer satisfaction unlike any other.
Let’s explore the materials King Swings uses to build our modern playsets.
Exterior Vinyl Sleeve and Wood Interior: A Durable, Beautiful Combo
The structure of our vinyl swing sets and playhouses is built using pressure-treated Southern Yellow Pine inserted into a vinyl sleeve.
The viny sleeve creates a unique white, clean look that separates us from metal or wood playsets. Durable, easy to clean, and protecting the wood underneath from UV rays, our vinyl sleeve provides a smooth, splinter-free, rust-free finish with a 20-year warranty against fading.
The yellow pine under the sleeve is one of the hardest softwoods. Harvested in the USA, it is affordable yet durable. It is also sustainably sourced, keeping our woods and forests healthy.
We use Culpeper Microprp Technology, a safe way to pressure treat wood, resulting in no ecotoxins or other environmental impacts. To read more about how we pressure treat our wood, click here.
Combined, a vinyl swing set, playhouse, or playground offers durability, longevity, and ease of cleaning, plus the strength of wood. Our playsets have that heirloom quality visible to the naked eye; you can see that the playground has been built well, built strong, and installed with care.
Trex® Decking: A Swing Set’s Best Friend
Nearly everyone knows the brand Trex®, and for good reason. They have built themselves up to be easily one of the most recognizable names in outdoor decking. Their durable, stain-resistant decking perfectly pairs with our swing sets, playhouses, and playground equipment. The reliable traction this decking provides is a must for a swing set.
Trex® decking won’t warp in the sun, splinter, or rot. Plus, each board is mold and mildew-resistant. Trex® is proudly eco-friendly. Made from a mixture of 95% recycled plastic film and reclaimed sawdust, a 500-square-foot deck contains about 140,000 recycled plastic bags!
We love Trex® for its traction, durability, and high value. It is the perfect match for our swing sets and playhouses. Whether on the tower’s floor or rock wall, it provides unmatched value, traction, and durability.
Polywood and Polyboard Material: Tough, Safe, and Beautiful
King Swings uses polywood material in many of the components of our swing sets and playhouses. It is used in our spindles, tea tables and chairs, supports, and in many other elements. Polywood will not splinter, rot, or decay. Insects leave it alone, and it withstands the elements like a champ.
Our poly roofs and playhouse walls are made out of polyboard. This lightweight material doesn’t rot or decay, is tough, and holds up under the elements.
Metal Hardware Components: Brackets, Railings, and Lags
The metal hardware used in a King Swings playground is stainless steel wherever possible or zinc coated if there is no stainless steel option. Our hardware is made in the USA.
The fireman poles, metal handrails, and brackets are powder-coated, which ensures a smooth surface for little hands. Each of these is made in the USA.
Slides: Have Fun on a Great Product
Our Avalanche, Super Spiral, and Tube Slides are made by rotational molding in Pennsylvania, USA. They are tougher, thicker, and safer than most plastic slides on the market.
These slides’ high sides keep children (and adults) safe as they zoom down. The tapered end, or lip, catches the children before plopping off the ground. These slides are the perfect match for our commercial playgrounds.
Roofs: Materials that Got You Covered
With three main roof types, King Swings has got you covered. Our plastic roofs are rotationally molded in the USA. Poly roofs are made of polyboards, while the A-frame, Lean-to, and Sloped roofs are metal.
Rebar Anchors: Keeping Everything Secured Down
Our swing beam frames are anchored into the ground rebar spikes. These spikes are hammered deep into the ground and then attached to the frame of the swing set with a lag screw. These rebar anchors keep everything secured.
